Match Reports September 19th & 20th 2015
Under 8s started their season today at home against Ripon. We played 3 games initially, resulting in two KDR wins, and a Ripon win.
The teams were then reshuffled to even things up. In the second round of matches we won the encounter between the two strongest sides. The lads were fantastic, they played with a lot of maturity covering for each other, when needing to go out of position. The other two games resulted in victories.
To summarise: 5 wins and a loss, and a very happy coaching team.
Under 10s recorded a brace of wins at home to New Park. It could have been a lot closer but with some brilliant goalkeeping and goalmouth recoveries we managed to keep two clean sheets. Good all round performances.
Under 11s Boys
U11 boys were away at Knaresborough Celtic. Excellent high tempo passing football from both teams, a joy to watch. Two wins, two defeats, but wonderful team spirit and really encouraging signs again from our lads.
Under 13s Girls
A young Girls U13 team lost 11-0 at Copmanthorpe, but the result is very harsh as the game was much closer than the score suggests.
Under 13s Boys
U13s won 4-0 away at Ripon. A really good performance from the lads today.
KDR played some bright and entertaining football but were somewhat unfortunate to lose 2-0 away at Garforth Rangers.
Deighton had the majority of the possession in the first half but there were few clear chances for either team.
The second half was more even as Garforth had the benefit playing down the slope - KDR conceded twice, the first when our goalie was impeded in a goalmouth scramble and the second when a shot flew into the bottom corner of the net.
So a defeat but an improved peformance compared to last week - encouraging signs.
