A historic double for KDR Girls

6th February 2016 goes down as another milestone in the short but blossoming history of the KDR JFC girls section. Both our girls teams won in the City of York Girls League on the same day for the first time.

Many congratulations to our U13s for their first ever league victory. After many months of near misses and 'what could have beens' the girls were all magnificent in their 2-1 victory away at Bishopthorpe White Rose. Having been beaten twice already this season by their opponents the girls were determined, measured and with no little skill came back from a goal down to turn it around. Jenny-May Moxon scored both goals and was player of the match. Captain Jess Flynn was exceptional again,  Poppy Ribbons was outstanding in defence and Isobel Laurie was on fire with her tackling. Vicky Hudson, Beth Horsfall and Jess Tully were at their determined best working the wings and not allowing the opposition time on the ball and with Evie Trapps continuing her development into a great goalkeeper they all worked together to propel the team to this maiden victory. Well done to all the girls and to coaches Rachel and Carl for a well deserved win.

Over at Grange Park the U11s faced a stern test against the well established Selby based team Brayton Belles. The girls were absolutely superb playing sensibly as a team, keeping their shape, talking well to each other and raced into a commanding half time lead. The second half saw Brayton up their game and close the gap to one goal. Brayton kept going as our girls tired but KDR held out for a wonderful victory in a nine goal thriller to get their Division One campaign back on track.

We welcomed a new girl to training this week and while the season is part way through if your daughter is interested in joining a rapidly developing club and improving their football skills, having fun, building confidence and making new friends then please contact Rachel (07910435191) or Nic (07811 405296).
