Match Reports March 4th & 5th 2017
U9s match against Beckwithshaw was played in the rain on a muddy pitch. Despite the hard going the boys recorded four wins out of four. U10s played Wetherby Tigers at Grange Park. In a contest between two well matched teams, we drew two and lost two but could easily have won all four games. Lots of well worked goals and some impressive defending. U11s played Otley. The boys moved and passed well when they had the ball, but allowed the opposition too much time and possession, allowing them to avenge their defeat in last year's Cup Final.
Three teams were in Cup action. U12s Girls Dragons crashed crashed out with a 0-6 defeat to Brayton Belles. We lost our regular goalkeeper to injury on Friday evening, so were forced to field a last minute stand-in against a team that had only lost once all season. U14 Girls Kites were shocking in the first half against Wiggington Grasshoppers, conceding nine. A much improved second half performance saw us score three without reply, but it wasn't nearly enough, and we went down 3-9. U14s Boys lost 2-8 at home against Burley Trojans, a team from a lower division. An awful first half saw us 1-3 down at the break, and within five minutes of the start of the second half we had conceded three more.
Both U13s teams recorded good wins this weekend. U13s Whites had the pleasure of a very scenic ride up to sunny Leyburn. The trip was well worth it as we came away with a 7-1 victory. U13s Blues were at home to Wigton Moor, who beat us 7-2 a fortnight ago. A few changes to formation resulted in a more positive performance. Playing their best game so far this season, goals from Matt Hill, Will Cohen & Odhran O'Duchon gave us a 3-0 win.
