Nic Streatfield runs the London Marathon
Popular coach completes marathon challenge that was close to his heart
Everyone from Kirk Deighton Rangers Girls squads was rooting for their popular coach Nic Streatfield who ran the London Marathon on Sunday. Nic was running to raise funds for the Willow Foundation in memory of his sister Lara. Willow provide special days for young people 16-40 who have debilitating or terminal illnesses and provided Lara with a special day before she passed away from breast cancer.
Nic got the amazing time of 3hr 57m 34s in his first ever marathon and was cheered on by his family, including his daughter Ciara, who as the Kirk Deighton Rangers U11s goalkeeper was delighted to receive tips from the legendary ex Arsenal & England goalkeeper Bob Wilson, who set up Willow after his own daughter died.
Fellow girls coach Rachel said 'Nic is a wonderful manager to the girls, and we've seen him train with equal enthusiasm and effort for this massive challenge. I know he says that he couldn't have done it without the support of his loving family; wife Sue and daughters Ellidh and Ciara who have supported his every step. KDRJFC are so proud of him, well done Nic!'
