Wates Giving donate £650 towards our new 9 a side pitch
The growth and success of the KDR Girls teams, as well as growing numbers of players in the Boys Under 11s and Under 12s teams naturally fills us with pride, but also gives us a problem with availability of playing surfaces. As a consequence the club plans to create a new 9 a side pitch during the 2016 summer break. While we have the space at Grange Park, we will need to raise funds to cover the cost of new goals for the extra pitch. We got off to a fantastic start in April raising £1400 through a bag packing event at Morrison's supermarket in Wetherby.
The reality of a second 9 a side pitch at Grange Park has come a big step closer with a generous £650 grant from the Wates Group construction services company. Wates Giving is a charitable programme run and funded by the Wates Family Enterprise Trust, and forms a vital part of the Wates Familly's approach to being responsible business owners. The Employee Community Projects scheme supports Wates employees who give their time in voluntary roles outside work.
Simon Quinn is a Senior Design Manager at Wates Group Leeds office, and the father of Josh Quinn, who plays for KDR Under 16s. Simon provides assistance to the team on training and match days, and has also become the team photographer. The photo below is one that Simon took of the team after the 2-1 win away at Otley Town. Simon applied for, and received a Football Community Award from Wates Giving. Thanks to Simon's commitment, and Wates' generosity, our footballing youngsters will enjoy the benefits provided by our new facilities for many years to come.
